kala namak salt (india), halit salt (pakistan), persian blue salt (iran), rose salt (bolivia), himalayan salt (pakistan).
BLUE is one of the rarest and most exclusive salts and is extracted from a salt mine in northern iran.
The intriguing blue color occurs during the forming of the salt’s crystalline structure, as intense pressure
is exerted on the salt deposits. The individual crystals fracture the light in an unusual way creating an optical illusion
that makes the salt appear more or less shimmering blue.

CHILI is all about flavor and experience. Just like RIVSALT. So creating our own chili product, which you are now holding in your hand, felt natural. A perfectly shaped grater in stainless steel, a holder in oak wood and the best possible chili pepper selection we could find. Another Scandinavian gastronomic experience by RIVSALT. Common in many cuisines, chili peppers are used to add heat and flavor. Whether you grate it over risottos, pastas or tacos, chili gives every dish a fiery aroma. But not all of them are as hot as many people think. The peppers in CHILI belong to the paprika family [Capsicum]. From the red ORGANIC BIRDS EYE CHILI you get the well-known tongue-tingling heat while the exclusive yellow AMAZON CHILI adds a milder fruity note to your dish. The red birds eye chili originates from Uganda and each plant produces numerous hot pods. With 90.000-120.000 heat units on the Scoville scale, it’s among the world’s hottest chilies. The sharpness is intense and direct, and the taste is similar to Thai chili. Perfect for hot Asian dishes and your home-made BBQ sauce. Our yellow amazon chili grows in Columbia. It belongs to the sharper but not extreme group of chilies with 50.000-70.000 Scoville heat units. Amazon chilies are harvested just before full ripeness, that’s why they are yellow. Refine your soups, meat dishes and dips with this grated delight. Time to challenge the kids? Turn their favorite bolognese into a hot grown-up masterpiece. If you do, a tip: use the yellow one.
With SPICE GRATER, you add flavor to your cooking in style and with ease. Specifically designed to grate all spices in the RIVSALT assortment, it’s perfectly shaped to fit in the palm of your hand. The grater is made of high-quality stainless steel and has small Japanese style blades instead of the holes you normally see on European-style graters. The small blades do the job perfectly and you see grains and shavings on the dish in front of you while you grate thanks to the grater’s small size. You know exactly when to stop. So what can you grate? Try our salt rocks, organic nutmeg or cassia cinnamon bark to enhance flavors and add aroma. Surprise your dinner guests with some raw liquorice shavings on top of a dessert. For more spicy treats we recommend our two different chilis and the spectacular tonka beans. Spices work in drinks, too. Grate and mix dried ginger, turmeric and java long peppers with water for that ultimate detox shot. Java long peppers also go great on top of your well-deserved Friday gin & tonic.

TONKA BEAN : The aroma of grated Tonka bean is enchanting. Almond, vanilla, woodruff and fresh hay blended with fruity, spicy notes. Suitable for desserts? Definitely. And for cocktails, savory dishes and pastry, too. Sprinkle Tonka shavings on Irish Coffee. Use it in chocolate truffles or crème brûlée alongside sweet fruits like strawberry and apricots. Why not stir grated Tonka into a rich tomato soup, flavor a mayonnaise to accompany fish or grate some over scallops? Grate it with any RIVSALT grater but use Tonka bean shavings sparingly. A small amount is enough to add that delicious, subtle taste. Our Tonka beans come from northern Brazil, where farmers pick them up and prepare them once they’ve fallen off the Brazilian Teak tree [Dipteryx odorata]. To some cultures, the tonka bean is a lucky charm. To us it’s simply delicious.
NUTMEG is known for its warm, spicy aroma and wide use. You often find it in pumpkin pies and cakes, but it can also give sweet and savory food that extra kick of flavor. Nutmeg is especially suited for creamy or cheesy dishes such as lasagna, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes (with butter, a lot). Add freshly grated Nutmeg to custards, pancake batter and banana-based desserts. Stir some into your chocolate mousse. Sprinkle Nutmeg shavings on top of hot chocolate or an espresso. Taste it. Smile. Have some more. Nutmeg should be grated - not ground – freshly onto hot food at the end of the cooking process. That’s how you preserve the flavor of its fresh oils. All RIVSALT graters work perfectly with Nutmeg. Nutmeg is dried and peeled fruit kernels of the Nutmeg tree [Myristica fragrans]. Ours are organic and handpicked by a small farmers' cooperative on the Indonesian archipelago of the Moluccas, known as the "spice islands". And that’s Nutmeg in a nutshell.

SALT & PEPPER is our tribute to the world’s most used spices. A gift pack that proves that salt and pepper can be more than ordinary table spices: Himalayan salt rocks, Java long peppers, an elegant oak wood holder and a perfectly shaped Japanese-style stainless steel grater. SALT & PEPPER is a Scandinavian design product for the dining room table that presents salt and pepper in a new and tasteful way.
Himalayan salt is a natural rock salt that was created when the prehistoric seas evaporated some 250 million years ago. The salt rocks vary in color, from pure white to beautiful light pink and deep red, all depending on their iron oxide content. Ideal for seasoning fish, meat, and vegetables with a RIVSALT grater. The salt is flavorful and has a lasting spicy heat over a mild mineral body.
Java long pepper has its own distinctive character, but the familiar taste of traditional black pepper is also present. When seasoning your dish with grated long pepper, you will detect unexpected aromas of licorice, aniseed, and cinnamon, with a spicy sensation towards the end. Think of it as regular black pepper with a twist.
